In pursuit of the further possibilities of the cup of coffee.
The Specialty Coffee Association of Japan welcomes new members.
The Japanese market continues to struggle through a long recession, and consumer sentiment is increasingly price-sensitive. Conversely, consumer demand grows ever more diverse, and it is equally true that demand in the coffee sector is growing for coffee of high quality and exquisite flavor, which is to say Specialty Coffee. Looking at the coffee-producing countries as a whole, however, we find coffee growers plagued by the persistently low prices afflicting coffee beans and a strong desire for stable conditions that can ensure regular supplies of high-quality coffee. It goes without saying that we need to think about the future development of the coffee market no longer as a question of the Japanese market alone, but as a whole that places Japan within a global context together with the coffee-producing countries. Founded in April 2003, the Specialty Coffee Association of Japan works to spread the enjoyment and awareness of Japanese coffee culture and delicious coffee by liaising with like-minded organizations around the world and, with our priorities always as the healthy development of the Japanese market and expanding consumption, through our wide-ranging activities to foster the coffee market at a global level that includes the coffee-producing countries.
